The Canadian Oshawa Generals hockey team has apologized for sending a message to season ticket holders asking them to shower before attending games. The message, written by Jason Hickman, the team's ticket sales and services manager, read: «To ensure a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for everyone, we kindly ask for your cooperation in following some simple hygiene practices». After the message, sent on Tuesday, went public, the Generals issued a statement on Thursday on their social media accounts, which read: «We have taken responsibility for the previous mistake. The team currently has 12 wins and 26 losses this season, which is the worst record in the league. We had no right to overstep our bounds as we did». The team added: «We are sorry for this mistake and hope to move past it». Lisa Morin, a season ticket holder for 43 years, told CTV News Toronto that she had never received such a letter before. She added: «People should be clean when they come to a game». Hickman, in turn, said he had received many complaints from people with a foul odor resembling cat urine and bad breath. Several people who spoke to CTV News expressed their surprise at the Generals having to make such a request. One of them said: «Honestly, I would be confused if I received a message asking me to shower before going to a game. I would consider that a mistake». The Generals play in the Ontario Hockey League.
