Mark Carney, former head of the Bank of Canada, was appointed as Canada's prime minister today, Friday. He immediately stated that he was ready to work with U.S. President Donald Trump, who promised to introduce tariffs that could ruin the Canadian economy. "We understand his program," he noted, indicating that he had worked with Trump at international meetings. "In many respects, my practice intersects with the experience of the president. We are both interested in many things," he added.
After taking the oath, he told reporters: "We respect President Trump, who sets certain very important issues at the forefront of his program." Carney replaced Justin Trudeau, who had tense relations with Trump.
