Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared that the United States has triggered a trade war by implementing a tariff that came into effect on March 4. In response, Canada will impose a 25% tariff on American products worth 155 billion dollars, a measure that will remain in effect until the United States withdraws this imposition. Trudeau mentioned that he will seek the support of the Mexican government and emphasized that Canadians are not angry with the American people over this situation.

"Canadians are reasonable and polite. Donald... it's not my habit to agree with the Wall Street Journal, but Donald, they point out that while you are a very smart guy, this is a very stupid thing," Trudeau stated. He emphasized that the trade dispute only benefits the opponents of both countries around the world.

Trudeau pointed out that Trump seeks to collapse the Canadian economy to facilitate its annexation to the United States. He recalled that 16 American banks are active in Canada and hold about 113 billion dollars in assets in the country. Canada will sue the United States at the WTO for the unjustifiably imposed tariffs.

He called the decision to impose tariffs a "very stupid" action and emphasized that there is no justification or need for this measure.
