Canadian political parties are preparing for possible snap elections that could take place in the beginning of this or next week. The Parliament of the Moni Fortye and its group of volunteers are developing an alternative platform to support a new leader, not starting "from scratch," but having the ability to submit changes at their discretion.
In a recent appearance as Prime Minister, Trudeau was met with applause, recounting the achievements of his government. Although he will not lead the campaign for a repeat election, he stated that his party should not be underestimated in the upcoming elections. The chosen leader of the liberals, Mark Carney, promises to abolish the carbon tax for families and farmers, as well as to stop the increase in capital gains tax.
Carney received a resounding victory in the first stage of the elections, obtaining 86% of the votes. He is expected to take the position of leader only when Canada finds itself embroiled in a trade war with its closest allies and neighbors - the USA.
In the race for leadership, Kristya Friland occupied the second place among candidates, while Karina Gold took the third place, notably ahead of ex-premier Frank Baylis. Carney gained the most support from the party's liberal leaders, gathering a significant amount of donations, primarily from small contributions.
Carney confirmed he is ready to confront the US President Donald Trump, who threatens to impose additional tariffs on many goods. The newly elected leader promises to maintain the core policies of Trudeau and abolish the carbon tax for families and farmers. 2000 supporters gathered to support the liberals when Carney proclaimed his victory, stating he feels it will be a significant moment in his life.
