Airplane accident in Toronto leaves 17 injured

A Delta Air Lines airplane overturned during landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada, on Monday afternoon, resulting in 17 passengers injured. The CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), Deborah Flint, confirmed that there were four crew members and 76 passengers on board the aircraft. The injured were taken to local hospitals, and it was unknown if any had sustained critical injuries.

Due to the accident, two of the airport's runways will remain closed in the coming days, according to Flint. The Delta Air Lines aircraft was coming from the U.S. city of Minneapolis. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will handle the corresponding investigation and provide updated information on the incident.

Aviation expert Phyl Durdey pointed out that various factors could have contributed to the aircraft's overturning. Observing the wind sock in videos recorded at the scene, Durdey noted the presence of "a fairly strong crosswind." Canada's Transportation Minister, Anita Anand, stated that she was closely monitoring the serious incident at Pearson Airport and awaiting more details from the ongoing investigation.
