Earlier this month, a Delta Air Lines Inc. regional plane crashed in Toronto and slid down the runway before ending up on its roof. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, which could have had fatal consequences.

Boeing Co.'s head of commercial airplanes, Stephanie Pope, has been removed from her additional title as chief operating officer. This designation was part of a succession plan that failed when the aircraft manufacturer faced challenges during a year of crisis. Stephanie Pope stepped down as chief operating officer as of February 19, according to the company in a filing to regulators.

"Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of our customers and employees," said the FAA. The incident occurred when two aircraft, a Boeing and a private jet, were just 800 meters apart. Fortunately, the Boeing managed to land safely after a go-around maneuver.

Southwest Airlines Flight 2504, which covered the route between Omaha (Nebraska) and Midway Airport in Chicago, narrowly avoided a possible collision with a smaller commercial plane on the runway of Chicago Midway International Airport. The flight crew performed a go-around maneuver to avoid a collision with the plane that had entered the runway without authorization.

Boeing has decided to restructure its executive positions to focus on improving operations in the aircraft factories due to past challenges. Stephanie Pope, who previously held the title of chief operating officer, now leads the company's largest and most crucial business. At the same time, Boeing has reduced its board of directors.

Sabrina Soussan, president and CEO of Suez SA, chose not to stand for re-election at Boeing's 2025 annual shareholders' meeting, prompting a change in the company's management structure. Following these changes, Kelly Ortberg assumed the CEO role in August. On the other hand, the company announced the departure of Dave Calhoun at the end of March last year.
