In Canada, authorities managed to make an impressive drug seizure. More than 835 kilograms of cocaine, linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) from Mexico, were confiscated, with 360 kilograms found in homes in the Toronto metropolitan area. This action was part of a broader transnational drug trafficking operation directed from Mexico.
The blow to the CJNG in Canada was the result of collaboration between the Toronto Police, York Regional Police, the CBSA, the RCMP, and the CISO. A search was initiated for two Mexican citizens involved in these illegal activities and linked to CJNG operations on Canadian territory.
During a press conference, Jorge Luis Mundo García and Rodolfo Jiménez Ávil, both Mexican citizens, were identified as being detained in connection with this operation. Additionally, authorities are searching for three other individuals, including Alexis Arroyo, Marco Rivera, and Robert Nolin, who may be related to drug trafficking and are believed to be fugitives from justice.
The investigation, dubbed 'Castillo', began in August 2024 and has resulted in the detention of six people to date, two Mexicans and four Canadians. The seized drugs originated from Mexico, crossing the southern border of the United States before reaching Canada. This is the first time the presence of the CJNG has been detected in Canada, as in the past, most drug seizures came from the Sinaloa Cartel.
The case is still ongoing, and more arrests are expected in relation to this international drug trafficking.
