Summer is Getting Longer and Hotter

A new study reveals that summer is getting longer and hotter worldwide each decade. Scientists have recorded a significant increase in its duration in various regions, from Sydney to Toronto.

Summer is Getting Longer and Hotter

A scientific study conducted by a team from the University of British Columbia has shown that summer is becoming longer and hotter at a faster rate than previous estimates had indicated. It begins earlier and lasts longer with a noticeable rise in temperatures. The research team found that the average duration of summer in areas between the tropics and the polar circles increased by about six days per decade from 1990 to 2023. The results revealed significant variations between cities. For instance, in Sydney, Australia, the number of summer days increased from about 80 in 1990 to around 130 currently. In Toronto, Canada, the increase is estimated at about eight additional days per decade.
