Warm waves, recorded in Canada in 2024, were attributed to climate changes, research confirms. Scientists from the Ministry of the Environment of the country reported that this year has become one of the hottest summers in the history of Canada. Researchers noted that temperatures were above usual in all regions of Canada.
"Temperatures were above average across the country. Canada experienced the fourth hottest summer on record," noted one of the researchers, Naiten Gillett. "Over the past 77 years, the average summer temperature has risen by 1.7 degrees Celsius nationally, and the main reason for this is climate changes caused by human activities."
The study showed that climate changes significantly influence the record highs registered in the summer of 2024 in Canada, especially in the northern hemisphere, where temperatures reached 35 degrees Celsius, according to data from the Ministry of the Environment of Canada. Three-quarters of the hot waves studied by climatologists throughout the summer came from climatic changes, out of 37 registered, which were due to climate changes.
